Erwin is from Scotland. He came to America in 1968. He describes his experience this way: “Every good thing that happened to me in my life, happened after I came to America.”This album came about from Erwin’s thoughts and feelings about his new country: “As I looked back on my new life in America, I felt I wanted to shake the hand of every single American for letting me come here and become one of them.”A more practical choice for Erwin was to celebrate America’s diverse musical heritage. Erwin put it this way: “These songs are the heart and soul of America. If folks enjoy listening to them half as much as I enjoyed recording them, then I shall be happy.
