Like many good things, The Tone Pirates came about by seemingly coincidental circumstances. When asked by a friend to play a party in 2009, Dan threw together what was intended to be a one-time ensemble for an evening of fun and tribute. The group met for the first time less than an hour before their first collective note. When ask how long “the band” had been together, they said “about an hour.” The first public show was three weeks later and they’ve never looked backed.Their debut record of mostly original work and was release in 2011, produced by 7-time Grammy winner, David Sanger. They’ve headlined some of oldest festivals, played the largest rodeos and performed multiple sold-out theatre shows to the most discriminating audiences while never having rehearsed as a band. Back to their roots of pirating the tone of the classics, this album covers multiple genres in honor of Texas artist and songwriters. Pure music, pure and simple!
