专辑简介

Music can touch us in so many ways. It is an essential part of life. As a performer one draws on the understanding and inspiration of the musical composition along with one’s depth of experiences and emotions from one’s own life to inspire the listener to another level of consciousness and awareness. To express the inexpressible in music was one of Debussy’s aspirations. He was inspired by and used evocative titles like the reflections in the water, homage to Rameau, quick movements of the air…. Liszt also, through his music, expressed his love, passion and inspiration from Petrarch’s sonnets. In his Harmonies of the Night etude Liszt evokes images of calmness, beauty and passion. Chopin was the grand poet of piano music drawing his inspiration for the Nocturnes from the style and music of Bellini’s bel canto opera music. Scriabin’s early preludes have their roots in the pianism of Chopin. Liszt, Debussy, Scriabin and Chopin’s music span from the beginning of the romantic era with Chopin and Liszt through the impressionistic period with Debussy and edge into modernism in the twentieth century with the Scriabin Etudes. Harmonically Scriabin continues to develop the Liszt-Wagner tradition of developing a highly chromatic and individual style. All of their compositions are particularly evocative, filled with passion, colors and emotions.Liszt, Debussy and Scriabin where all influenced and inspired by Chopin. Liszt wrote his Consolations to console himself after the death of Chopin. Debussy dedicated his Douze Etudes to the memory of Frederic Chopin. Scriabin was so dedicated to Chopin it was said that as a student at the Moscow Conservatiore, he went to bed hugging the Chopin preludes.
