We sold our company for a pittance, and it cost a very high price. We are the McDonald's brothers, and this is our story. From a young age, we demonstrated interest and talent for entrepreneurship. In 1937, we opened our first restaurant called Airdrome, in Arcadia, California, where we served hamburgers, hot dogs and milkshakes. After a few years, it was proposed to reinvent our business. We closed the Airdrome, and in 1940, we opened a new restaurant called McDonald's Barbecue in San Bernardino, California. The restaurant had a leaner menu, focused on burgers, fries and milkshakes. It was in this new venture that we developed an innovative mass production system, known as the Speedy Service System. We improved the kitchen, introduced specialized workstations and implemented an efficient assembly line, where each employee had a specific task. This system allows orders to be prepared quickly and delivered to customers efficiently. With its innovative approach and focus on quality and speed, our restaurant began to attract the attention of other business owners. In 1954, he received a proposal from Ray Kroc, a traveling milkshake machine salesman, to open franchises of the restaurant across the country. Ray Kroc immediately realized McDonald's potential and saw an opportunity to expand the concept across the country. Initially, we were cautious and reluctant to expand the business. However, with Ray Kroc's persistence and the successful opening of a franchise in Des Plaines, Illinois in 1955, we finally agreed to sell the rights to the company to Kroc. McDonald's grew rapidly under the management of Ray Kroc, who expanded the brand through the franchise model. McDonald's success extends beyond the borders of the United States, with restaurants opening around the world. A focus on fast service, quality food and a consistent experience has made McDonald's one of the largest and most recognized food companies in the world. We had a good life, but we gave up because a better one wouldn't be sold at McDonald's. I love it all very much
