A fortress rose from fear and stone
Protecting me yet keeping lone
Each brick was mortared with delay
Each gate was closed to keep away
A gentle knocking broke the spell
No force no shatter yet it fell
The wall grew doors the dark grew light
Love turned the stronghold into sight
The window opened wide to skies
A breath of hope in wounded eyes
The barriers once thought to last
Became the remnants of the past
A heart will build to feel secure
Yet love alone can make it pure
Where solitude had claimed its art
The walls dissolved the soul could start
