Found a marble on the sidewalk crack
A tiny world in a tiny glass sack
It shimmered blue it whispered red
Spoke louder than the thoughts in my head
Pocket full of marbles bouncing as I go
Each one’s a secret no one else will know
Rolling down the street they scatter and shine
Lost a few but the rest are mine
Picked one up from the edge of a stream
It felt like holding someone’s dream
Dropped it quick but it rolled right back
A runaway globe on a one-way track
They’re heavy and light
Bright but slight
A galaxy held in the palm of night
Pocket full of marbles bouncing as I go
Each one’s a secret no one else will know
Rolling down the street they scatter and shine
Lost a few but the rest are mine
What’s a marble but a piece of the moon
Falling to earth and lost too soon
I keep them close but they slip away
Little universes that won’t stay
