Bouddha

In the glazed lamp the wick quivers and sways
Showing which page of the scriptures it displays
The sound of the wooden fish shatters on the stone stair
Awakening the slumbering lotus there
Some kowtow asking about cause and effect
Some clasp hands forgetting words they've left
The ginkgo leaves outside the hall are drifting down
Like a golden cassock softly on the ground
Buddha Buddha in the moment you close your eyes
Can you hear the mountains and rivers' cries
Buddha Buddha that slightly raised lip
Have you forgiven what's never to slip
The incense ash scatters like falling snow
Covering all the knots we don't know
Only the copper bell on the eaves rings clear
Saying"to meet or not"year after year
The faded Thangka paints the passing years
Cinnabar outlines the world's frontiers
The remaining snow on the prayer path appears
Reflecting the face of the floating spheres
The butter lamp flickers bright then dim
Revealing the world's illusive whim
A melting candle -tear so fine and rare
Is the moment when Buddha bows his stare
I traverse all the corridors of the arhats to find my face
But in the reflection all sentient beings take their place
It turns out not Buddha who saves me it's I
Who walk across my own desolate sky
Only then I understand the morning bell and evening drum
All lie deep in my heart like a num
Buddha Buddha you smile in silence so grand
Let the world see the moon wane and expand
Only the dandelions fly far away
Each seed each dust in perfect sway
