The suffering of sentient beings surrounded by afflictions across past and present lives

Shared sorrow helps us understand and embrace awakening to kindness and leaving disputes behind

Repent the sins of body speech and mind as the Buddha's light illuminates our hearts

The Buddha's great vows contemplated over countless eons are his compassion to save all beings

Trust and accept the Buddha’s deliverance chant his name often

Board his vow-boat to reach the shore of home—a lotus-pool gathering where mortals become sages

Practice diligently without cease as bodhisattvas and virtuous deities silently protect and guide

A bright heart no longer clings to worldly passions;

Faith and aspiration for the West remain unshaken by wind or rain

In the lotus pond of bliss we reunite—

Radiant waters pavilions in the sky treasure trees in endless beauty

Blossoms open to behold the Buddha non-retreating bodhisattvas return to liberate the boundless cycle
