I wrote my fears on scraps of paper thin
Folded them tight and tucked the edges in
I threw them to the wind with crooked grin
And watched them fall before they could begin
You picked one up and smoothed the wrinkled sheet
You read my secrets softly slow and sweet
You didn’t flinch or take a single step
You only said “These promises are kept ”
You turned each scrap into a paper plane
And sent it flying through the evening rain
My doubts became a fleet of fragile wings
That carried off the weight of many things
So let the storms roll in and thunder blaze
I’ll send my worries up through darkened haze
For as they rise on hopeful folded beams
You’ll stand beside me guarding all my dreams
