They told me I should say something
They said the world is waiting for my side
They want a statement A denial A fire
They want me to pick up the stone and throw it back
I saw the headlines burning saw the smoke curl in the air
Saw the names they carved in marble the judgments written there
They want my fury want my blessing want me to choose a side
They want my flag nailed to their mast my colors worn with pride
But I just closed the curtains let the evening pull me in
There's a war outside my window but I'm not sure I begin
It's not my circus not my storm
Not my fire to keep warm
Let them howl let them burn
I've got nothing left to learn
From the ashes of their fuss
Not my business just not my busine ss
I've worn the crown I've played the fool I've danced the razor's edge
I've begged for love I've spat out hate I've balanced on the ledge
And I have no more enemies left that I can find
Except the one that lives inside my own reflecting mind
So if the world wants a new villain it'll have to look elsewhere
I'm fully booked with saving my own skin from my own despair
It's not my circus not my war
Not my battle to out-roar
Let them cheer let them boo
I've got better things to do
Than to clean up all their muss
Not my business just not my business
And you might call it silence you might call it shame
You might say I'm hiding that I'm too scared to play the game
But I've been played and I've been played out till the strings are wearing thin
And I'm saving my last performance for the man I'm looking in
So forgive me if I don't applaud
It's not my kingdom not my cross
Not my profit not my loss
Let them build let them break
I've got too much at stake
To be ground up in the dust
Not my business
just let it be not my business
