What are you going a talk about today we're going to talk about three d printing

Lately i busted out my three printer

And i wanted ted to make some parts for my camera

Basically just connecting parts to add on things like the microphone er connected it to a stand and three d printing that i started to feel like every technology that we talk about you have parts of it or already have it at home

Well you know i'm a technological kindhe this is if i see it

I want to buy it

That does sound very cool

So let's talk about three d printing or three d printers a 三d dying

I still remember watching the big bang theory

And i think a lot of our audience

If you watch that show you remember that they were playing

Leonnered and howard the guys they were playing with a three d printer

And the first time i saw it

I thought all this is so cool

But also this is so pointless

Because there were printing things like one to one racithere there prprinting things that already exist in life

And you thinking what is the point

But so let's start with what is three d printing

In most cases

Three d printing is just a designing a shape and like a software kind of like a cat software computer

It is drafting um

And then having a three d shape

And

And telling a computer to printer the three three printer

Uh so as the nme soffted you print something that is freday

The way it works is typically you that you have plplastic most things are printed with plastics

And you just go layer by laer by layer

And you can prprhim it different like thicknesses

But the thiner each layer is the more definition

You kind of have in it

You can make it look kind of more globby

If you have a really thick bitlbe faster

But i know this is all matter of facto you i for me

I'm just trying to wrp my head around

How you can put in plastic

And then all of these letters get song the paper

Because it's been printed on was ink

Do you just put plastic

Feed plastic into the printer

Um so basically

You have a it's almost like a string of plastic

You have a really long string like a ah almost a thread for making like showing okay you

You feed that into a machine

It heat it up

And then once that into parprinter cular temperature

It can come out as a liquid

And then you it's shaped really

It's like put down and really thin layers

And then once you put down a layer

It calls off a little bit

And it becomes hard

And then you build it that way i see

So let's say if we print a cube inside it is it empty or is it solid

It's neither empty

Nor solid

You can have different shapes

But you have to have some sort of kind of like a wedding on the inside

You have to have some sort of structure on the inside

If you don't have anything

Then when you try to print the top of the cube

It'll just like collapse i'have just print downwards

And so what you do

Is you print the bottom layer

Which is completely solid

And then as you print up the outer

Like the the side of the cube it's solid

But the inside i'll have like a lot of structure

Oh

Like a support structure

It's almost like a scaffle ding ah ah

And what about the structure after you're done is it just kept inside

It's kept inside right

But if depending upon how the shape is like with the cube

The cube has a shape

But it doesn't like a flow over where as if you have like a sphere

The bottom layer is really tiny right

But then need as lago up to the middle part of the

To the middle part of the sphere

You kind of have this overhang where there's almost nothing beneath it

And so you kind of have to print something to support that while you're making this spar

But usually the way they do this is they print kind of like aa piece that will just easily break off

So it depends on the shape

One other thing from just like an ordinary person

If i want to buy thirty printer

Like you did is it very expensive

Because i've heard the printer itself it's not that expensive

That the materials very expensive

It depends on what materials i use my printer only cost me about

About hundred

You couldn't watch the whole video

What to do to make adiy three die prinner

It's not that difficult

Actually

But if you didn't want to do that you can buy three t prinners

That are fully assembled and ready to go out of the box for about five hundred

Six hundred and up like it's like very dumble

What about the materials

The materials you can buy the strands of plastic

Like i bought one recently here for it was like a kilogram

I think get about a kilogram of material for about eighty rmb

So so very expensive

But what is the concept of one

How what can you print

You can print a lot of things

Like i printed the entire body of my quoadopter are react for my drone for less than half a kilogram

Less than half

I would say uh

And is plastic the only material they use in three d printer

Are using a three d printer for most consumer grades

You're going to use plastics

Only there's a few other ones

But if you go four things that a bit more expensive

And then they heat up the specific areas they want to print

And then they blow away the rest of the material

And for medals are this dust

It's a dust

And then they turn into a liquid

And then it's sets

It's starting the mess was yead

And plastic medals

Any other material

This is a bit of the weird

Science aspect

But biological materials

But biological show me

I haven't seen skin flash specifically yet

But i have seen like a muscle tissue for like making a three d printed heart

I don't think theyve actually used it in a person yet

They've printed they basically what they did was they took kind of like aa shape of a heart

And they added like all the ventricles

Like the tubes and everything the inside of the heart

But then they used a three printer to kind of fill in using like celluular material that would be used for making like muscle tissue

That is fascinating

But thirty printer it does have its limitation with all of these fascinating things

It can do three ty printing dosound like it has its limitation for example a lot of these printers

I've seen they're not very big right

Most of the thirty prprtters that you buy for that you can use in your home are going

Going a kind

Kind a limitation of like a twenty to thirty cenometer cube so to to thirty to thirty centieter

So it can be a cube

Usually about that size not a lot

You can print with this not a lot

But you usually what people do is i'll ll sign something um

And then they'll print it in parts so like for my quad opter

Like i had my central body

And then i would print like an arm for renknow that goes off from the central body

And then you assemble

Then you just use like different types of crews

Or you mean a boat s connenect everything together

And sometimes people just have like a they kind of

Make it like one of the old japanese houses

Where it's kind of like wooden pigs

Kind of thing

Where they have the material

Where they just kind of like build kind of like a way

Where it can connect just adding like some super

We were something

Yeah

That is something that i wanted to ask

I would imagine they use it a lot in architectural al world

They can use this to make models

Yeah

They actually can build houses with a three d printer

I don't know if i want to live in a house

That's build using the materials that are from a three d printer

That's can ically way way it works

It's ad prprted world concrete

So the concrete it's it structurally sound just like a regular concrete brick

They print it

It into the shape pe a how material is still concrete

Because i am not going to live in the plastic house

But i mean like with using this

They basically they have a house design

A very minimalalistic type pose design with like bedroom rooms in everything you bring in the printer

And you set it to print

And basically we'll do so it will like print the first layer

And after it prints the first layer

Then you have a few workers ers in

And they put in like a little bit of of wiring

Because set set specifically

And a layer they can go in

Put in the set of wires

And

And pipes and stuff

And it

It makes it very fast and efficient

And then once they move to

Once they finish

They can move to the next house

And a three d printer just used to the next layer

I see one last question before we wrap up this basic episode

When you are printing these things

What kind of information do you feed into the printer

Do you have to have let's say a picture

Or do you have to have like a three d breakdown of the design

Structural design 是要给什么信息给到三d 打印机

You can use a printing software

You

You like

You really have like there's a bunch of free ones like tinker cat or free cat

You just go online

You doinkload the program

And it gives you shapes

And then you can build something using those shapes

Or you can specifically go in there

And just go to the new level l in designal line connect that to another shape design everything one by piece by piece

And then once you have a three d shape use another program

Which basically fills in the space in between

So it's called a slicer program

And so it takes the three d shape

And then

Then ts it into all all lalayers

And then anything that's empty

And then filling with the a skefule thing yeah

Skefule thing yeah

I'm saying i see

But i'm only just about grasping what you're talking about

That is very hard core for a basic episode

I don't know what we're going to talk about in advanced episoobut i'm sure
