Old Men's Home (1994 Remaster) - Slim Dusty
White fences surround me on every side
A home for the old men is where I reside
I've nothing but memories of days when I roamed
At ease in the saddle that once was my home
I know that my days of wild living are done
Of riding wild horses on far cattle runs
Of driving or shearing well those days are behind
And all I want now is contentment of mind
There are so many things that bring memories so plain
Like the whistle at evening of an outgoing train
Or that old country ballad with a strumming guitar
Oh I long for the bush land way out there so far
Now they say it's self pity when I get the blues
But life here's so different to what I've been used
I've lived since my boyhood on mountains and plains
And it hurts when you know you'll not see them again
My relatives brought me away from the west
And the doctors all tell me I've just gotta have rest
Oh but what good is rest to the body alone
When the mind keeps on pining for that old western home
White fences surround me on every side
A home for the old men is where I reside
I've nothing but memories of days when I roamed
At ease in the saddle that once was my home
