Today we're gonna be carrying on talking about price comparisons so in our last stepode we talked a little bit about groceries

Now wegonna be talking a little bit about eating out

Because tually i thought we can talk about three meals a day

Because that has a lot to do with lifestyle acalso how much it costs

How do you deal with your three meals a day

Do you eat out to cook at home

What do you do germany i eat out or i call in for food

So i'll call in for delivery

I'm trying to learn how to cook

But i'm just not very good cook

So a lot of take away easina then a lot to take away food

But i try to choose healthier options yeah

So take away salad yeah

Pretty much

It's just so easy in china

It's incredibly easy

Then i'm in the uki would definitake eeat then as much as i do in china or call for takeways as much as i do so for average british people

For people living in london

For example

Breakfast is very simple

Isn't it very simple

Anormly just a cup tetea or coffee

Maybe serial or toast

People talk about food

English breakfast

But that's not saying you he every day yeah

We talk ked about

But do they usually grb p something on their way to they

But do they just eat some simple things at home

Usually it's nonely about both both breakfast

If you're runin late

Then you might grab something on the go

But in the uk

Germany you'd eat a home

Breakfast only takes maybe about ten fifty minutes

Because we don't cook anything

If you grab something on the go

This is one thing

That is one ally it i guess for us

Sometimes i eat some balthe

Because i pop into a balds the store

And buy something or jja

What do you have to grab a the ore for breakfast

It would be maybe a pastry so like a quasson

Or it could sometimes be like an energy bar

So like a coffee or tea for example coffee

This is one thing

That's actually quite expensive in china

Because obviously this is not where the trend started yeah in china

I would say if you go to a coffee shop

Starbucks is definitely you're looking at about thirty army

You know that right yeah um how is it compared to london

London is cheaper to get a coffee

You're looking at between maybe one pound fifty to two pound fifty

Yeah okay

And that is in starbucks or in costa or starbucks costa

But you have to think as well that when i said about grabininying on the goal

Most people do that at a coffee shop so in china

Most people go to coffee shops

And they may be spend an hour or two there um in the uk

Most people would just go into a coffee shop and take a coffee to go um

I think nowadays especially when you have office blocks these well dressed workers in china

They also pop into starbucks and descrap something on a go

So it's becoming more intergo

So then we come to lunch time

I think this is very different

Because lunch time in china

A lot of people working in the office

They will call for a take away

Yeah

Nowwadays take away in beijing

Definitely gonna over thirty

Thirty think if there's things under thirty

Then either you got a huge discount

Or you live in an inexpensive area

But you know in the area that i live in definitely over thirty

What about in the uk

In the uk we wouldn't normally call for delivery for lunch

Most people in uk eat sandwiches for lunch

They don't normally eat hot food

So the people that don't bring in their own sandwich

Would go to a sandwich

There are also people who bring in their own sandwiches

Some people they ing ing their home cook food

I remember living in london

You see office workers especially women yeh just pop out eat salad ad

They cocoffee shops so pretty lledge ch ay for example is a coffee shop

But it is also a sandwich shop

And they also have maybe some paystreees cakes

Also things like soup

There are fast food

But not as bad

They're not like junk food

They're quick

It's not like a restaurant

Where you order they cook

They serve at your table

It's not like there aa like a big open fridge

And pick your sandwich

You pick your drink

And you go to the counter and pay

So you mentioned about drinks lots these places

They also have meal deals

That's normally a sandwich plus a drink and maybe crisis or foot

How much is that

It's normally between free to four pounds

That sounds really reasonable

If you have some food and aa drink

And maybe a snack

To me honest

I think london being such a cosma polyitan place

You see sandwich is very western

I've also seen some asian fast lunch places getting quite popular

So you can get some example fast food but in asian style like a tie food

Maybe chinese food

Maybe japanese food

And eat a very quickly

And then leave that's also

You also do have some people that go to a restaurant

During lunch hour they usually have a set menu

Um which is the set price

But then they're like different dishes you can choose from yeah

Lots of westerrestaurants in beijing also have the same thing as well um

But there are more expensive

Because if you have to sit down

That's usually what over ten pounds maybe ten to fifteen pounds ten to fifteen and dinner for most people perhaps

Most of the night they will just go home to eat

Whether it's cooked or it's ready meal

In the uk it's very common to have a ready meal

Ready meal 就是半成品

All you have to do is by from supermarket

Put it in your microway for you often heat it up

And i said

So it does sounquite basic k

Because thethat's so popular

In the uk you do get lots of variety um yeah

And with london being really cosmoo politan

You also get ready meals from all sorts of world cuisines

So like chinese food or italian

Indian all sorts or in the previous episowe talked a little bit about vegetables

If would be been washed and process um

So you just have to cook them um it's not very common in the uk

Unless you're william cooking to not

Not completely from scratch

I guess if you are very health conscious

You would

But most people same as in beijing 就是打工人

在哪里都一样

They spend a whole day working

They come home

They just don't want to go through the trouble of cooking anymore yeah

And you mentioned about being health conscious

There are also lots of healthy versions of ready meal as well knoum

That's true in the uk

You can see how many calories is in one dish is very easy

And how much is that ready meal um maybe be two to three pounds

Oh Okay

But you also get special deals maybe like free ready meals ls for six pounds

That doesn't sound have have bad

But then in the end

Let's talk about eating out

So once in a while people do eat out

Let's start with the very very cheap fast eat to the the very very high lelelelefood in like cdonalald kfc

What is like a combo 一个套餐

比如说麦当劳的那种套餐价

Roughly how much hamburger drink

Exacfanctizal chips are you looking around six pounds

Six pounds in china is probably more like forty rmb

So in the uk

It's more fifty

Not too bad

What about this whole in the wall place

就是很小的这种小餐馆

We don't have many hole wall all restaurant restaurants

But they think beijing has many of these tyof of restaurant

Let's say you look around fifteen pounds

But it normally depends if you're drinking wine

That's nomely quite expensive

We talked about going to a pub

Normally i know that there are some pus

If you eat in a pub

You have to tip depends on the pub

I would say pubs are probably the closest equivalent to hold in the wall restaurants in

I think is getting more and more expensive as well for a mid range beijing restaurant

I would say probably two hundred per person

But if we look at my end or fine range same as beijing the sky is the limit

Sky is the limit but in a different way though because if it's western dining you order by courses

They're only so many courses you can order yeah

So even in very expensive restaurants

If you just go for two course se three course meal

It's not unthinkable

Actually it's not unthinkable

But in china if you go

And god knows how many dishes you are going to order yeah

And that sometimes can be even even more expensive

That's what i found alright

It does seem like eating out is a huge expense

I guess that's why people don't eat at that ofoften people

People eat how if it's special al tion tion tion or maybe on a day

Till something like that it's not seen as something that you do

Frequently um i see
