Before I’ve truly felt the snow
In blossoms drifting soft and low
We shiver in the cold, and know
What tenderness may bestow
Before I’ve held your hand in mine
Across the desert’s lonely line
Perhaps I’ll learn to seal and sign
A love that’s measured not by time
Sometimes, oh sometimes
I believe all things will meet their prime
Partings and reunions have their time
Nothing lasts foreverthat’s no crime
But sometimes in my mind
I’d rather stay and leave no “goodbye”kind
When mung beans ripen, let us find
That crystal springso pure, so blind
Before I’ve seen red beans through
I think of those green eyes of you
When plums are brewed in morning dew
I’ll taste the mung beans’lighter hue
Mung beans mean a love that’s clean
Hearts that never turn their sheen
One by one, translucent, keen
The purest page in life’s demure routine
Sometimes, oh sometimes
Red bean longing turns to wine
But these green beans in this hand of mine
Are love’s simplest, truest sign
But sometimes in my mind
I’d rather stay and leave no “goodbye”kind
When mung beans sprout, we’ll walk entwined
Until the very end of time
Never let go
We’ll watch them grow
A field of green
Where love has been
