We're going to move onto some more advanced topics really into comcoms

When it comes to comic books in the us

Now even i know

I don't even read comics

I know marvel and dc

Of course thethekind of like the biggest rivalry right there's lots of different comic book companies in the us

Or there's dark course and like silver age are not sviverage a

But like there's lots of different comic book companies

But these are the big too

And there's a lot of rivalry between people who like marvel and people who like dc

But is it a rivalry actually between these two companies or between their fans

There's a diffefum more between their fans than anything else and the companies themselves

I'm just on the marvel side or myself

I do like some of the dc characters

I just find the dc characters are

Are harder to really believe in me like super man is afraid of a green rock

But for those of because a lot of our audience are women so just to make it probably a bit more relatiable

Can you give us a few famous characters from both from either side

But if we look at marvel

You've got spider man

X men

If

If the avenangers or iron men was are the big ones right

When it comes to the dc side

And you've got the justice league right

You've got superman

Batman

Wonder woman

Awkwman

And so that basically kind of like the you've got the two sides there you say two sides you say different characters

But to me many of these characters look pretty much the same

There's actually a lot of barrowing back in fourth right so like sometimes authors and artists will work for one company

And and actually tually lot plethe other company

And and so some of their drawing styles and some of their character ideas well will make their way between the two companies and character and in one company

Might so a complete rip off of aa character from the other company

My mentioned awkwman man earlier there's comic about character and called name or in marvel

Whose basically the exact same thing

Owkmman now from what i've

What i've heard is like name or was actually first

But you know owkmman became a bit more famous now in comic book circles

Everyone knows receime more

But when it comes to like every other person out there you no one probably heard that name before do they suw each other for these kind of colot before i know there has been a few suits

But nothing that's really really really really big attention out their and vies

But both sides a very successful commercially

Because a lot of these stories especially superheroal stories they braned out into cineinema and vv

Because it's a really really well received by the general audience

When it comes to marvel

Their movies are a lot more well received in the us dc has like kind of like flop a lot with their movies

But they've kind of like they've not really looked at what makes marvel successful

If you look at batman

You had two really successful batman movies

And then everything after that kind of flopped

And then they came back

And they made the dark night

The batman begin saga

And that was really good

And then they started to making batman versua superman

And then like casting people that were like the happy batman

Like batman is the one character

So he's the one that doesn't really fit in with the group

When you look at the justice league

You've got all these people who would be considered god and youad man sitting there in batments

And they haven't realized that i'm not a god

And then you've look at the marvel avengers

And you've got everyone there is is a goman

But then you 't thoured who 's a god

It seems like a lot of these are almost like parallegue characters which brings us to a topic

This idea of crossover

So one side crossing over or mix match with the other side is that

That seems to be very common and sometimes quite popular right within comic book series originally

You know like when you look at dc and marvel comics within their own comics

You'd have like superman working with batman or awkmman working with superman

And they'd ll be crossing over right

Every comic book would be connected to another comic as a way to sell comics right

If you want to know what happened to batman

And if to read ephoodes s then they something happen in one of those episodes or that comcomics

And then the same would happhappen in marvel

But then

Then two companies kind of sman

Well theyll are kind rossing ing

They had really have any characters there's no real reason to put them together

But they put them together like that well and ans and ddor or was like a big thing they put put together

But then they decided what about preddor or fighting atatman or i guess a lot

And see how the market reacts and some of them will flop

Others probably will be amazingly successful right

But that's between the companies

This is the real industry moves

But then you have fan fiction

Most people just imagine themselves in the story

Or they try to in china

It's very popular now to couple to characters up

And thethey're not coucouple but times safe sex couples

As well that happens a lot in fan fiction

But like when i first went to fversity my room mate did fan fiction

And he would call his friends at and talk about his couple to fan icoryeyeah not a ficfew fiction circle

It was extremely bad

Did you have to sit there and listen to all his ideas

I had to listen

And like that it was just ridiculous

Like basically when they didn't have any coidethere there was just there win characters from other van tions

And it was like make it like a cross over

Like gaah over

But then again

Whatever we say is not really against fanfiction right

There re's some really good ones out there there are good ones

But there's also some ridiculous and not some dtween right

However when you look at like japan

There is a huge market for

For digency in the us

That

That few people sell there's

But it's very rare

That anyone makes any money off of their fan fiction

Whwhreas in japan

You have people who go out and a pran like at thousand or two thousand

Copies of a conomic book

They wrote and go to a fan meat door

There's over

But have have kind of like

Like

Like kind of actually markets

Not even the convention more just just like meet up on the weekend

Where they sell things

And people will go to find their digency authors and actually buy them directly

And

And then they have stores

So they have comic bookstores

And like one of the like biggest books that i are biggest bookstres

That i know about it's called mmlon books and within mellion books that have like a bshoks

That actually celks regular comics from made big companies

And then they have a floor that's devoted soleto digency that's in japan

So it seems like it's much more accepted there

And it's much more established in japan

Um i have to say that when i was younger

I was more into fanfiction

Now not so much not for years

So i don't really know what is to scene like in china

But it definitely sounds like people are within that sort thing thing

They are a people that keep creating and internet obviously for a lot of these authors and survive

And also so japan

Um i don't to was yoopeople conventions

Where people sharing the same interest in animmy

In manga

In comic

Graphic novels

They meet up in china

They're very big as well in the states big

Always

Always like cocomicay

Like how very is that they're huthat

They're like you'll get hundreds of thousands of people going to them

Well it's every city will have a comic convention like seattle

Every it like there's all these comics like they have them all over the place

And people will do cos play

It's that big as well big

It's really big

Like coplay

People

People find any reason to cosplay the people people people

People who cocospay ay cospspay every day in university

People will ll up up go go clclass a cospplay outfit

Usually nothing too crazy

But usomeone will have geeke that like they'll notice that

They'll get dress

Like that character is there any stigma

Social stigma so around so that's still like a defensive minority

Some people are afraid to talk about it

Some people are afraid to be a guy

You went to comicon on if they have friends wwant to comic grooks

Or they have friends that like comics still talk about it with those people

But no one would ever talk about something like that at work

Oh Yeah

But i don't understand the stigma

If you can do your work

What's to harming in being a gaay or narn

Or like can comcomic rooks

Ks re's that uh in the us at least there's that that culture of it's geeks first ces jocks

Jojoks are like the alpha male uh you mentioned it's more like this whole stigma about people who are like this imate mana comics

They seem to not be to go gatheters ers there like living in a fantasy world

Which i think it's a comit on fair mean as long as you can deliver what your work needs you to deliveral al cres really what you're into whether it's sports or manga

Right right

So in the end before we wrap up

I just want to say that

When you were growing up

Did you have any favorite comic book

Graphic

Novel

Characters

It's a liicleicy

But and my favorite character was overing

And i don't know why

But i think one of the reasons

Why is because 'll vering he traveled around the world a lot

And went growtriand he learn different language

And that's mainly because he's been alilife for so long right

He's got that regeneration

He can heal any lwds

And

And so love super heroes can regenerate

But like because of it is actually can live much longer

And so he is actually much older than a lot of the other charverger

Even though he doesn't look it right

So that's kind of like is something that i thought was very cool and being able to travel the world

And just experitually all those different things in history

You know that reminds me of a character

Even though it's not a comic book character

But it's my awful hero doctor who know regeneration

You know the ability to live very very very long

To travel not only around the world

But also through space and time

So that's my hero alright
