It stayed ajar through storms and snow
A single pane through which hopes go
The house grew old the world moved fast
But through that frame the light would last
Children came and then were gone
Dreams flew through it at every dawn
Though shutters cracked and paint turned pale
It let the stars and moonlight sail
The birds came singing in the spring
The leaves would whisper trees would swing
A thousand skies it came to know
And never once did it say no
Let us too be like that glass
Let in the world as it may pass
Though time may weather frame and wall
Stay open wide and welcome all
