Because i'm just so excited to share with all of you

The tv shows i like

Now that we're getting into the depths of winter

Todays are getting shorter

And nights are getting longer

So today's tv series that i picked is just the perfect match for a long cold winter night for those of you

Who know me

You know that

I'm a huge fan of the horror

Shura 酒馆的老朋友都应该知道

露露是一个恐怖片的狂热爱好者

But don't switch off just yet

Because even though today's tv picgs has some horror elements

It is by no means your typical conventional horror story

不喜欢恐怖片的小伙伴别着急关掉今天的节目

因为今天露露推荐的这部剧虽然有一些恐怖元素

但是绝对不是传统意义上的那种恐怖剧

So today's tv pigs is called what we do in the shadows

中文的译名叫做吸血鬼生活

Speaking of vampires

Theare just so many tv shows and movies about them

You have your twilight series

Your vampie diaries dacular

I always remember the nineteen ninety four interview with the vampie in that film

You get to see yyountom cruise

Braack pit and tony o bandderas and they were just gorgeous in that film

But coming back to the topic of vampires

It seems that we always have this fascination with vampires

This is perhaps

Because first of all they have humanity

But also superhuman power and control

And of course they have eternal youth

They never grow old

And number three very importantly they always seem to have dissexualized images in tv and movies

No matter if their men or women they always just look gorgeous sexy attractive

But this is not how the vampires look like in the tv shows that i'm recommending today

But what we do in the shadows

You will see a group of very different vampires

First of all this particular tv series is what we call a mocumentary

Marcumentary means mark documentary

Marcumentary 就是所谓的伪纪录片式的电视或者电影

They are made to look like a documentary about certain people or certain things

But in fact

They're still fictional

So this is a marcumentary about a group of vampires

They live in a gothhic mention on statten island new york

这一群吸血鬼呢

他们所住的地方是在纽约的staatton island

史丹顿岛上的一座哥特式的大宅子

A gothhic mention

It's caggorized as comcomdy hororr to me

It's much more comedy than horror

Let's meet the main characters

First

So you have a group of vamppiers living under the same roof as housemates

First of all you have nanorwho who the oldest vampire of the group

So he sees himself as some sort of leader

He often organizes these house meetings

Where he gets the other vampires to talk about really boring stuff for example

Who's going to do the cleaning

And he keeps a human familiar called germo

他身边还带了一个仆人

叫做germo

Now girmo is a human

He's not a vampie

But he wants to be that's why

He's doing everything to serve his master

Hoping that one day ndoor is is going turturn him into a vamire

And the relationship between dendoor and germo is basically like a really demanding boss and really long suffering employee

就很像一个非常事儿的老板和一个非常惨的打工人这样的关系

And then you have a vampire couple nagia and asaso nogia is a greek vampie

And she was one

Who turned last aslow into a vampire

They talk about sex a lot

And they often have these really weird ideas about things apart from these three traditional vampires

Who are always in some sort of old costumes

You also get another vampire

Calin

Robinson

He's a vampie

But he looks just like a human

That's because instead of a vampie that sucks blood

He is what is called an energy vampie

Calling robinson 是跟他们一起同住的一个所谓的能量吸血鬼

He lives in a basement

What he does is instead

I've sucking blood out of his victims

He would drin them of energy gy and way he does

It is

He engages people in very long boring frustrating conversations

Calling robinson 这个能量吸血鬼

他进食的方式基本上就有点像唐僧的那种碎碎念

He will continue to talk and talk and talk with you

Until you feel completely drained of energy and you're so bored

是不是让你想起了一些在日常生活中遇到的那种超级无聊的话痨

Maybe they are energy vampres and basically

The show is about their everyday life

The troubles

They get themselves into really weird and silly things

They do their interactions with other vampires or other spirits

And also of course with humans

Now since this is a show about vampires

Let me give you some background information about vampires at least

According to legend

因为这部剧是跟吸血鬼有关

所以在这里我们来一个吸血鬼的小科普

Let's look at their power and their witnesses according to legend

First of all the powers

They have very special teeth

They are called fans

They use it to suck blood

And they usually have super human speed agility and strengths

So they can move really fast

They have superhuman abilities and many legends also claim that vampires

They can hipnotize people

And get humans to do what they want them to do

他们可以对人进行催眠

Even though some of them are not very good at it

And of course because they can turn into bats

So they can fly or scale walls

And if needs be they can also shape shift

So they can turn into other things

And very importantly they can get eternal life or immortality

So technically they can live forever

Does that mean you can't kill them

Not necessarily

Because they do have weaknesses

Their weaknesses traditionally will include sunlight

So if they're in the sunlight

They will turn into dust or dead men's blood

Legend has it if you let vampire drink that man's blood

This is going to really harm them

Or you can use a wooden or silver steke and drive it directly into their heart to kill them

也可以用木桩或者银装直接钉进他们的心脏

是不是觉得奇怪的知识又增加了

So now

Let's take a look at why i recommend the show

First of all this is not your typical vampires stories

They are no team romance

They are no beautiful looking vampires

There are no typical horror

It's more like these are vampires

But they are also just this really awkward people this group

首先故事是不落俗套的

And the reason

Why the horror comittee is because many of these stories are just hilarious this group of vampires gotto be the least cool of all the vampires

这群吸血鬼大概是最不酷最傻雕的一群

A few examples

You have stories where one of the vampres last last low

He turned into a bat

And immediately he got taken away by animal control

And the others needed to go and rescue him

Or because they live on statiisland they get this by manhattan vampires

比如说因为不够酷而遭到了自自曼顿顿精英吸血鬼的鄙视

Or for example one episode callen the energy vampie dates another energy vampiire because thethey're both try to drink each other of their energy

They end up both exhausted

So you can see these are not your typical vampie stories

There are a lot less killing horror sex

A lot more everyday silly happenings

Second reason is it really puts the vanpie stories in a contemporary and more relaliable context

紧跟时代

让你看到吸血鬼的真正日常生活

And this show the comedy style is not for everyone

It's more goofy

And it's very dry

我相信这部剧的幽默并不会每个人都喜欢

因为它是属于那种dry humor 很干比较冷的幽默

And of course for those of you who love learning new words

This show will open up a completely different world

Which offers very specific and very strange vocabulary

Since this is a very peculiar show

There are things you need to stay cautious about first of all

Even though i said this is not exactly typical horror

I don't find it terrifying

But this is still not for people who are easily spooked

Because it does contain some violent imaging

虽然不是传统意义上的恐怖片

但是对于完全不能接受恐怖片的人

可能有些画面还是会觉得有一点惊悚

不过整体来说惊吓程度还是比较低的

The second thing to stay cautious about is they are still a lot of sexual any windows

Especially between this vampie couple lasslow and ngia 中间的那一对吸血鬼伴侣ngia and lslow 两个人都是一言不合就开车的老司机

Because as i mentioned earlier vampires tend to be seen as sexualized creatures on top of that

If you're looking for so called positive messages

This is not your show

绝对不是什么正能量的剧

And the last

But not least

Because this is a horror comeey kecumentary

So there might be a lot of subcultural context that makes it difficult for general audience to understand some the references

所以里面可能会有一些梗让你觉得理解困难

Actually what we do in the shadows the tv series now already have two seasons

They're very well received

Actually they're bason on a quite popular film of the same name

这部剧集是根据同名电影延伸改编
