When I first met Frank he was
Sat at the bar with a
Mop of hair hiding his face
Nursing a half
Of a tap drawn ale he said
'What brings you to this place'
I said life got me down
So I made a fresh start and I've
Been on the road for a while
He turned his eyes to mine
And looked deep in my heart
And he welcomed me in with a smile
He said 'Don't be afraid if you've not found your way'
But since the road has led you here
Pull up a stool and we'll
Toast this day with a beer
So I threw down my bag and I
Stayed for a while and I
Took a job at the bar
I'd serve Frank his Ale
And on Tuesday nights we'd
Sing and play our guitars
The stage we would share
As the nights drew in singing
Don Mclean and Billy Joel
To Frank it was clear
that since I had came
That my half of a glass should be whole
He said I know that you know
The path you should walk it's
Paved with chorus and verse
But since you're here let's
Have a beer first
When Frank sang, he sang from his heart and his soul
Just a musical man till the end
And however far in this life I will go
I'll be proud I could call him a friend
So I left that place when the
Snow it thawed and
Into the world I did go
Now I sing my songs in a life I adore and
Frank attends every show
So I'll raise my glass to that musical man without
Whom I may not be here
With a smile and a wink and a laugh and a joke
And a couple of glasses of beer
When Frank sang, he sang from his heart and his soul
Just a musical man till the end
And however far in this life I will go
I'll be proud
I could call him
A friend
