Night coils thick around the meadow
My breath hides within my chest
Darkness recognizes me like an old companion
I stop running;I listen
Something flickers—small deliberate
A firefly sketches my name in trembling gold
It hovers close unafraid of my shadow
Light when honest never fears dark
The tiny glow draws a map I did not ask for
It leads me away from sorrow’s pit
inch by miraculous inch
Guidance rarely arrives loud
When dawn considers arriving
the firefly lands on my wrist—
gentle ephemeral radiant
It knew my darkness It chose to stay
