I was born under the ocean
Now I live over the hill
I've slept inside the gutter
They've put me through the mill
I was under the weather
I was green around the gills
The earth it was spinning
And the world is standing still
What should I do
Then there was you
Now my family thinks I'm crazy
The preacher thinks I've sinned
The sister knows my state of mind
And god knows where I've been
I was working for some rich folk
Her name I will not say
Counting up my pennies
And counting down the days
I'm gonna start anew
Now that I've found you
Now I've seen a couple poets
Without a line of poetry
I've sat up all night watching reruns
of American TV
And I've seen the waters rising
Six inches above the sea
I watched the heavens open
The rain fall down so biblically
It soaked me through
Then there was you
The wind blows a new
Did you feel it too?
