Quietly By
Oh the stars and the sea
Poetry's call far places to be
Once a dream now sets us free
Picking up the pieces we look up high
Who's there waiting quietly by
Childhood lanes now dressed in new
Old neighbors gone their paths untrue
Faces unknown in crowds they flow
All in haste time won't slow
Oh the stars and the sea
Poetry's call far places to be
Once a dream now sets us free
Picking up the pieces we look up high
Who's there waiting quietly by
People move like moths in the night
Air thick with fumes bikes out of sight
Fragrance of flowers a memory's light
Night markets buzz yet I'm alone
Neon's glow but my heart is stone
Through life's storms time's unkind
Worn by years wildness left behind
Only you with a welcoming smile
Stay with me never a while
Gone are the days with their absurd tales
Skin and bones can't hold more pales
Soft on the inside tough on the rind
In the end it's the night that binds
People move like moths in the night
Air thick with fumes bikes out of sight
Fragrance of flowers a memory's light
Night markets buzz yet I'm alone
Neon's glow but my heart is stone
Oh the stars and the sea
Poetry's call far places to be
Once a dream now sets us free
Picking up the pieces we look up high
Who's there waiting quietly by
Stars and the sea poetry's call
Far places to be no longer a thrall
Picking up the pieces we look up high
You're there waiting quietly by
