Lil Lu (Michael's Story) - The Cheeky Celt
You chose me once, though I thought it was fate
Your eyes said this is worth the weight
You wagged your tail and stole my seat
And just like that, my world felt sweet
You never spoke, yet knew me well
You stayed through storms and grief I'd quell
I left each day, you'd watch the door
And greet me like I'd won a war
You chewed my shoes, you chased the rain
You soothed my soul and shared my pain
You taught me joy in simplest things
A muddy trail, a bird with wings
You never asked, but always knew
That I was yours and you were too
With a leaning head and softened eyes
You made the world feel kind and wise
And now you sleep more than you play
Your muzzle white, your paws like clay
But still you rise to greet my hand
The gentlest soul to walk this land
And when your breath is soft and slow
And I must face the letting go
Know this, I'll hold you ever near
In every shadow sent and year
I'll watch the stars and call your name
And hope you're watching just the same
And when my steps grow slow and wide
I'll see you there, tail by my side
