Breeze carries the last pink of the bloom
Gently it floats to the old garden’s room
I bend to pick but it slips through my hand
Like a dream that fades when the day meets the sand
It smiled at the sun it danced with the dew
Now no more—just the wind’s soft adieu
I dig a small hole ‘neath the willow tree
To lay it to rest where it once used to be
Oh fallen bloom where do you go?
My heart’s light weeps slow and low
Beauty’s so short like a passing song
Yet its sweet trace lingers all along
Rain wets the soil where the bloom now lies
I murmur words to the silent skies
The world keeps turning fast and loud
But I’ll remember its soft brief cloud
When next spring comes new blooms will show
But this one’s warmth I’ll always know
In every tear in every memory’s glow
It lives—soft quiet and slow
