Seven Days
Lyrics: Li Dongbo
Composition: Li Dongbo
Day One his stomach rotted in silent greed
He couldn't smell the rot beneath the need
Mouth wide open he swallowed the dark
And sank like a stone with an empty heart
Day Two he climbed the rooftop proud and alone
No crowds below just a heart of stone
The wind kept quiet the clouds moved on
He prayed to no onethen he was gone
Day Three his eyes were pits too deep
Gold chained his soul in a dreamless sleep
Mountains of wealth piled over his bones
And in his last night all eyes were his own
Day Four she gripped a blade of rage
No words escaped just blood on the page
Reason had vanished the mirror cried
But time was gone when the fire died
Day Five he curled beneath a choking sky
Dreams discarded no reason why
Too tired to breathe that final air
Time dissolved and no one cared
Day Six he cursed the moon's quiet grace
Jealous of stars he could never replace
But he forgot his own garden of light
Where hope once waited to bloom at night
Day Seven he drowned in the scent of skin
Counting ghosts in the sheets he lay within
Desire burned to ashes cold and bare
No name on his body no one there
Seven days we watched seven lives decay
Each a version of us in shades of gray
Desire fell silent the sins burned dry
A single tear traced the soul's last sky
Behind the dawn a shadow remains
Is it fateor the echo of old chains
But then
A whisper in time soft as breath's return
A light through the cracks begins to burn
