Love of Father, Steady as a Mountain

Today you're dozing in the rattan chair
Your white hair like snow on your shoulder there
Fengqing kneels down to trim your nails with care
Suddenly finds the "mountains"on your hand less grand
Back then you could hoist the gas tank high
Three steps turned to two up to the fourth -floor sky
I chased behind you looked back and cried "Be quick boy!"
Your voice like thunder in the valley made my feet go weak
At the school gate people crowded near
You stuffed my school -bag in my arms said nothing clear
Just patted my shoulder that gentle pat
Turned Fengqing into a kite the string in your grasp
When I had a fever at ten in the night
You carried me to the hospital with all your might
The rain made your figure a mountain so tall
I sobbed on top you panted below not a halt at all
In the photo when I was three you held me high
Your young face beamed like a June paddy field in the sky
You didn't know then what you held was a mountain
But one day the mountain would gently lay you down
Now I watch your fading silhouette afar
A shooting star across the sky so far
It's like you're raising the mountain giving a wave
I whisper "Dad it's my turn but you won't hear my brave "
Memories of the past stay in Fengqing's mind
Fengqing lights the memorial text in his hand
The ashes fly up the string's still in your palm
Dad now it's my turn to tug May you be calm
May you have a peaceful journey all the way long
May you be well on your way to the other throng
