Androcles and the Lion
Androcles was a poor servant.
He served a very cruel master in Rome, but he could no longer take the horrible treatment.
So, he ran away.
For many days, he hid in a cave.
Without food, he became really weak and just lay on the ground.
All of a sudden, Androcles heard a loud noise.
It came from a lion, and the lion was walking toward him.
That frightened Androcles because he thought it would eat him.
Then, he saw that the lion was walking funny.
One of its paws was hurt.
